Maintenance
Properly maintaining your furniture is very important. Furniture that is well maintained lasts much longer and retains its original appearance for longer. This applies to furniture that is purely decorative or both functional. Careful cleaning and maintenance of the fabric is very important. A few basic rules must be taken into account, such as not placing the furniture too close to a heat source and preferably not in direct sunlight. Of course, a cloth or the vacuum cleaner must also be used once a week.
Marble
Marble is alive because it is a porous natural stone. You easily get stains and circles in it. Of course we want to try to avoid that as much as possible. A big advantage of marble is that it will last a lifetime. Unfortunately, marble is very sensitive to acidic liquids. This is because the acid attacks the lime that makes up the marble. We therefore recommend using a nice coaster for under the glasses and cups.
Cleaning marble is best done with lukewarm water, a soft cloth and a little washing-up liquid. Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents. The marble is not resistant to this and will cause serious damage. In addition, it is also highly discouraged to work with a scouring pad. This will cause serious scratches.
Did stains appear? Then it is most important that you immediately jump up from your lovely sofa / chair and do not let the stain soak in.
Step-by-step plan for removing stains:
- Wet the stain with water.
- Make a mix of clean water and baking soda.
- Cover the stain with this mixture and cover it with a piece of plastic or cling film.
- Leave it on for at least 24 hours and then remove it with a wet cloth.
- Dry well with a wet cloth or chamois leather.
Adore fabric
This type of textile consists of soft, small upright fibres. The incidence of light in these fibers creates a playful and luxurious effect. The adore fabric consists of 100% polyester, and is therefore easy to maintain. The fabric can withstand sunlight well, does not wrinkle and is easy to clean.
Adore is a very easy-care fabric. It is of course important to maintain the fabric properly so that the condition of the fabric looks like new for as long as possible. We have a few tips for this:
- Vacuum the fabric once a week with a furniture nozzle. Prevent sand particles from getting into the fabric, as this can cause the fabric to wear out faster.
- Be careful with jeans clothing and jeans fabrics, this gives an abrasive effect and also makes the fabric wear out faster.
- Do not place the furniture too close to a heat source, such as a stove or radiator, to prevent scorching.
- Shake the cushions regularly to prevent sagging.
- Preferably do not let pets on the furniture.
To clean stains it is important to first pat the fabric dry, it is important not to wipe because then you literally push it into the fabric. The chances of you not getting it out will increase. Then clean with a damp cloth. If the liquid is not removed immediately, it can soak into the fabric, so make sure you are there quickly.
Leather
Leather is a natural material. Although only the best hides are used for furniture, you may still find scars somewhere. This is the natural charm of leather and makes your piece of furniture completely unique. This distinguishes real leather from artificial products. Each skin therefore has its own natural characteristics.
Leather is low-maintenance, but of course not maintenance-free. We would like to give you a few tips to ensure that you can enjoy yourself as long as possible and optimally:
- Be careful with jeans clothing and jeans fabrics, this gives an abrasive effect and also makes the fabric wear out faster.
- Do not place the furniture too close to a heat source, such as a stove or radiator, to prevent scorching.
- Preferably do not let pets on the furniture.
- Hard rubbing should be avoided with all types of leather.
- Preferably do not place the furniture in direct sunlight.
Leather is fairly easy to maintain. A damp cloth will go a long way. It is important that the cloth is free of soap and we recommend using distilled water. Please note that the cloth only serves to absorb the dust and not to moisten the leather.
In addition, leather needs intensive treatment twice a year. For this we offer you packages to maintain the leather. As soon as you do not use the right products for this, stains and even small cracks can appear over time.
Textile
If a beautiful fabric piece of furniture is purchased, you naturally want it to last as long as possible in its original condition. For this we would like to recommend our maintenance package from All In-House. This treatment forms a protective layer on and in the fiber of the fabric. It is, as it were, a kind of ailment. As a result, liquids and/or food do not penetrate the fabric, but remain on it, making it easy to remove.
If there is a spill, we recommend removing it with a spoon. Work from the outer edge inwards, making sure that the substance is not pressed into the fabric. In case of damp stains, it is important to pat them dry with a tissue, especially do not rub. Then you can moisten the stain with lukewarm water with salt (50 g on 1 ltr), or with the textile cleaner.
In addition, we would like to give you a number of important tips that will help you to enjoy your piece of furniture to the fullest and continue to enjoy it:
- Vacuum the fabric once a week with a furniture nozzle. Prevent sand particles from getting into the fabric, as this can cause the fabric to wear out faster.
- Be careful with jeans clothing and jeans fabrics, this gives an abrasive effect and also makes the fabric wear out faster.
- Do not place the furniture too close to a heat source, such as a stove or radiator, to prevent scorching.
- Shake the cushions regularly to prevent sagging.
- Preferably do not let pets on the furniture.
- Woolly cushions and fleece plaids can cause the fabric to pill more quickly, we recommend that you watch out for that.
- Preferably do not place the furniture in direct sunlight.
Wood
Wood is a beautiful natural product that is ideal to process into a beautiful piece of furniture. However, wood does require maintenance, but as long as you do this with the right products you can
enjoy it the longest. For this we recommend a package from All In-House. This gives the table a good protective layer and makes it easier to maintain.
With an untreated table, all liquids soak in, which is why it is very important to treat wood. Even then it is still important to pay close attention. Be quick if any liquid spills on the table. This can be removed with a slightly damp cloth.
We would also like to give you a number of tips to optimally enjoy your wooden furniture:
- Wood is a natural product and will react as such to its environment
- Wood will always color slightly over time, so move accessories regularly.
- Preferably do not place the wood in direct sunlight.
- Put down some nice coasters to use for under the glasses and cups.
- Do not place the wood too close to a heat source, such as a stove or radiator, to prevent scorching

By-Eve
These beautiful lamps from By-Eve also require maintenance. It may not be the most fun job, but it is important. It doesn't take much, but it's important to know what you can and can't use. During cleaning it is of course the intention that the lamps come out better and not worse.
To dust the lamps, we recommend a soft duster or feather duster. The chance is very small or scratches or other damage. Of course, do this carefully and carefully. Of course, do not use a brush or a vacuum cleaner for this.
Once in a while the lamps need a major cleaning. These glass lamps are best cleaned under the tap with a very small amount of water. Too much detergent can damage the glass. Always use lukewarm water for this. When using very cold or very hot water, the temperature difference becomes too great, which can shock the glass and break it.
In addition, we always recommend testing a small piece first, just to be sure, to see how the glass reacts.
Pleating furniture
With all fabrics, creases form and the settling of seat and back cushions occurs through use. This is a product specific property.
Loose cushions will settle over time (loss of conform). It is important that you regularly beat up your cushion and change the cushions to prevent irregular wear and loss of seating comfort. Settling of cushions is a product-related property. Regularly changing seats extends the life of your furniture.
Pilling
Another effect that affects the appearance of upholstery fabrics is the so-called pilling effect. Loose fibers will felt or tangle on the fabric due to rotating movements. This phenomenon will eventually disappear. You can remedy it with a lint comb and/or textile trimmer, which are available at the drugstore. Incidentally, it is only the superfluous, protruding fibers that 'pill'.
TIP
- Regularly remove house dust on the sofa by using a suitable nozzle on the vacuum cleaner and gently cleaning the sofa.
- Pets are a big factor in the origin of pills. Pets naturally have an oily skin and coat that gives off on the couch. Therefore, do not allow pets on your furniture.
- Keeps your humidity level. This way you prevent synthetic materials from becoming static and, for example, pulling hair, (house) dust and other fibers into your sofa. These will click and this is how pilling balls are created.
